Day 14

Coming up with my resolutions this years was a bit of a challenge. Every year I make so many resolutions that towards the middle of the year I can't keep up with them. This year I decided to make it easy on myself and only have 3, but figuring out which 3 was the challenge.

  1. Get on my kids - I have well behaved kids, given their ages they still listen for the most part. The things they are lacking are my fault, I let them get away with a lot of stuff. I tell them to do their chores, and it will take 5 times for me to tell them before they start. I'll tell them to pick up after themselves, I'm ignored and on occasion I end up doing it. All this will change in 2008.
  2. Be social - The last two years or so I have stayed away from social gatherings - I've just not been in the mood. I also used to go all out for holidays, baking cookies and cupcakes, and decorating. I have also not been in the mood for that. All this will change in 2008.
  3. Blog - With this blog so much is encompassed. To keep up with it, I will take a picture every single day, and if the end result if what I intended this to be I will loose weight and be at my weight goal. The hubby says I have issue with finishing things, which I tend to agree with. That will change in 2008.

Day 13

Keeping the Faith

My faith is what I turn to in times of need to bring me comfort.

God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen

God rest you merry, gentlemen,

Let nothing you dismay,

Remember Christ our Saviour

Was born on Christmas Day;

To save us all from Satan's power

When we were gone astray.

O tidings of comfort and joy,

Comfort and joy,

O tidings of comfort and joy!

From God our heavenly Father

A blessed angel came;

And unto certain shepherds

Brought tiding of the same;

How that in Bethlehem was born

The Son of God by name.

"Fear not, then," said the angel,

"Let nothing you affright;

This day is born a Saviour

Of a pure virgin bright,

To free all those who trust in him

From Satan's power and might."

Now to the Lord sing praises,

All you within this place,

And with true love and brotherhood

Each other now embrace;

this holy tide of Christmas

Doth bring redeeming grace.

Day 12

The loves of my life

My mom usually has a Christmas dinner the weekend after Christmas for the entire family to get together. This year one of my sisters that lives in another city came and two other nephews for another sister were here. It was really nice to have them here. With the exception of one, my siblings were all together, this hasn't happened in a really long time. Hopefully this coming year we will be able to get together more often.

Day 11

I immensely enjoy having pedicures done. I seldom have them done due to the cost, today it was $25. I might just invest in a foot bath and nail products.

Day 10

Cinderella, Cinderella

I finally get how one can burn calories with house work. I'm not the cleanliest of people but I really do enjoy when my home is spotless. If I get a workout out of this, I might do it on a regular basis. :)

Day 9

Something like Metamucil

I don't even know why I really got these. I was told that if I was serious about my weight loss, my stomach needs to be cleaned out. These will help the toxins lurking in the stomach get out.

Looks like I did a good choice on this product. Twice I've been told that my cholesterol is boderline and I need to take pills for it. I never filled the prescriptions or been to the doctors in a while.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Metamucil is a bulk-producing laxative and fiber
supplement manufactured by Procter & Gamble. The Metamucil brand has existed since 1934. The active ingredient is psyllium seed husks. It is often used to treat constipation, hemorrhoids, diverticular disease, and irritable bowel syndrome. It may also reduce cholesterol when taken daily. Metamucil is sold in powdered drink mixes, capsules, and wafers. In 2007, Metamucil began repositioning itself as a beauty product, adopting the slogan "Metamucil: Beautify your inside."

Day 8

Vitamin B

Part of a healthy lifestyle is to take vitamins. I came across these vitamins today. As far back as I can recall I have always had a stomach pouch, even in my thinnest of days. I have always had a stressful home/life. I recall reading about stress causing fat to accumulate in the abdomen. Hope these help and not just in the weight loss journey.

Day 7

Meet the Family

One of our Christmas traditions is to take a family picture infront of out tree before we head out for the evening.

Day 6

Before Picture
I wanted a type of Biggest Loser before picture.
Some may wonder why start a weight loss journey during the holiday season since there is so much research that a typical person can gain about 10 pounds during this time. I have two reasons.
  1. I don't want to start off the new year with an extra 10 pounds. I rather start it with good habits already established.
  2. Valerie Bertinelli's Jenny Craig commercial. The one where this New Year she is not going to make a resolution about her weight. I want to be able to do that next year.

Day 5

Flaming Hot

I'm feeling blue, really don't like it when I get this way. I try to will myself out of the mood sometimes it works and others well all I want to do is stay in bed. Another flaw of this mood is that I want to eat junk food. I have flaming hot fingers.

My EDD check didn't come in the mail. I haven't bought gifts for my kids yet. I'll be praying really hard that it arrives Monday morning.

Update: I snapped myself out of my mood and went on an evening walk. I even jogged part of that walk. Also, I believe God made me come across Cindy Beall's Blog for a reason. After reading it I felt better.

Day 4

Going Nowhere

I got this bike in August and have never used it. That's hasn't changed. I peddled for about a minute, the seat is extremely uncomfortable and during the transport to my home it lost a vital piece - the resistance gear (or what ever it's called). Without that piece the bike is way to loose and feet kept slipping from the pedals.

Since I didn't get my planned work out, I worked on my front lawn for a while to burn calories that way. I even mowed the grass. I haven't done that in ages.

Thursday, December 20, 2007

Day 3

First gifts of the season.

I got a late start on Christmas Shopping*. Went to my favorite store. I picked up the gift for the hubby's. Today was the only chance I got to go shopping without him, and I figured I had to do it since Christmas Eve is FOUR days away.

*Currently unemployed

Day 2

Walk Away the Pounds with Leslie Sansone.

I've had the DVDs for about 5 years. I used to do them regularly about 5 years ago and really enjoyed the work out. To think that it's actually possible to get a work out from marching in place.

It's going to take a bit to get back in shape. By the quarter mile I wanted to stop. I was huffing, puffing* and sweating all the way through the 22 minutes of the DVD.

*Maybe the huffing and puffing is from smoking ;p

Day 1

I believe this must be the biggest number I have seen on the scale for me.

I don't recall what my weight in high school was, just that maybe I was a size 7/8. I had a pooch for a stomach and I wasn't as thin as most of the girls. Shortly after the birth of my son I was a size 7 and weighing in at 133, that was 14 years ago. Then about 11 years ago shortly before I became pregnant with my daughter I was about 150. During the last month of my daughters pregnancy I was a little over 200. Then for about 5 years I was between 178 - 185. I gradually started to gain, and within the last 4 years I have been over 200 pounds and the scale has been climbing.

About a year ago, I got under 200 pounds for a bit. I did it all with exercise. I never truly modified what I ate and then I lost the motivation. This is where this blog comes in, I want to be thin but must of all healthy. I know this weight is causing health issues. I'm having trouble breathing at times and I know it's because of the weight.

Here's to Loosing the weight in 2008!

How this came to be

I came across Megan's blog a couple of weeks ago. Megan's blog inspired me to create a weight loss pictorial for 365 days.

Check out Flickr, there are so many folks taking self portraits for 365 days.

The journey begins tomorrow.
